About
Ethan Hideo
I am originally from the Bay Area, California, of mixed Japanese/American descent. I grew up listening and watching stories told by family, friends, and foreigners. I care deeply for cultural heritage and storytelling and I draw much of my inspiration from the stories shared across all cultures.
I received a degree in Fashion Design in 2012 and quickly found I loved designing many more things than just clothing. I worked on graphics for food trucks, band merch, salon art and more before landing into tattooing.
When creating I believe in understanding where it came from, and respecting what it means, and finding a way to carry it forward.
I look forward to listening to your story, and building new ones.

I create modern relics. Stories preserved on skin.

The process

We talk before anything is drawn. Either by call or in person. This stage we are doing a creative brain dump. Sharing all the references, the imagery, the meaning. Discuss size, location, and answer all questions leaving no stone left unturned.
01 / 03

Designing with body flow and form in mind, or just a perfect sticker tat to fill the gap in your collection. I design in my style for your body. We can make edits per request prior to the appointment, each piece will be created just for you.
02 / 03

I typically work full day sessions at a flat rate putting the same energy and heart into the palm sized tattoo as I do the full sleeve.
03 / 03
My role is not to invent the legend, but to give it a new storyteller.
